The groundbreaking PJ 170 Sport Yacht is Palmer Johnson’s even more sensational upgrade to the 150’ model preceding her. “DB9” is a sleek 52m/171’ superyacht and the only yacht of the series, of 3, to feature an open sundeck for a sleek and aggressive profile while keeping her under 500GT. DB9’s sweeping curves and striking metallic champagne exterior ensure she turns heads wherever she travels.
The timeless styling from Nuvolari & Lenard offers a sleek profile paired with an elegant light and bright contemporary interior and is one of the largest sport yachts afloat. Setting new standards in comfort and luxury, her highlights include a full-beam Owner’s suite, three separate pool areas, plus a fabulous open-air cinema on the sundeck.
With accommodation for 12 guests across her 5 luxurious staterooms, DB9’s interior layout is both spacious and versatile for an exceptional owner and guest experience. She also has accommodations for her dedicated and professional 11-person crew on the lower deck. Note large Captain's cabin on main deck with double berth, which can increase crew to 12.
Key Features
Aft Deck
Designed to enhance the outdoor lifestyle, DB9’s aft deck offers direct access to the water when swimming or using her impressive collection of water toys. The integral teak clad swim-platform houses a hidden “pop-up” Passarelle that affords boarding from aft or the starboard side dock. It can also be used as a diving platform when at anchor. The hydraulic swim ladder can be employed for ease of access to and from the water.
Twin stairs lead up to an infinity-edge jacuzzi pool, configured so guests can enjoy the wonderful vistas aft, while underway or at anchor with an oversized sun pad just behind.
The capacious aft deck also features an elegant seating area, most of which is under the hard-top, with transom sofa, 2 x loveseats and 2 occasional chairs which can accommodate a full guest complement, around 4 teak and stainless cocktail tables, which can be expanded to create an informal dining area.
In addition, there is a round dining table and chairs under the covered aft deck, which comfortably seats 10, flanked by teak-topped buffet cabinets port and starboard. The starboard side has a wet bar with fridge. The current owner added 25 tons of sacrificial reverse cycle air conditioning to the covered aft deck area so it can be enjoyed in any weather. There are 2 wing doors that further close the area off from the side decks port and starboard.
Elegant open tread stairs on the port side lead up to the sundeck, while curved passageways, with wing doors, lead to side decks proceeding forward to the large foredeck.
Foredeck
The teak-covered foredeck is another superlative guest entertaining area ahead of her time. Featuring a large 8m/25’ pool (that can double as a tender storage area and houses the 21' Castoldi RIB tender), a U-shaped seating/lounging area aft of the pool, and is flanked by teak loungers and parasols. Hidden under teak hatches are two garages for housing jet skis (1 each, port and starboard). The hidden centerline, pop-up extendable davit, allows the launch of the foredeck toys on either side of the vessel. Anchor gear is also hidden under hatches, giving a seamless and uncluttered look.
Main Salon
Proceeding forward from the aft deck, you enter the salon through a full-height glass and stainless electric door, which is one of 3 panels across the breadth of the salon aft. Upon entering the salon, you are immediately struck by the expanse of this bright and calming space with great overhead height (7'6"). Large windows with minimum mullions surround the area, letting natural light flood in, this is enhanced by the light satin cabinetry, light wood floors with white rugs, and white furniture.
The large salon is split into 3 zones, the sofa area aft, separated by a buffet from the formal dining area in the middle, separated from the formal bar area by a guest stateroom stairwell.
To port is the comfortable lounging area, opposite a 48” pop-up TV, which hides the dedicated Owner’s suite stairwell to the starboard. There is an 84” TV on the forward bulkhead, behind the bar that is hidden behind a mirror.
The circular glass-topped dining table for 10 guests is serviced by 3 buffet cabinets and tray ceilings. As you proceed forward to the centered formal bar across the forward bulkhead, you are struck by the vaulted ceiling which houses an art deco-inspired 3-tiered crystal chandelier. The elegant backlit white quartz bar top adds to the sophisticated ambiance of this full-service space, with 6 swivel barstools.
Set around a central foyer on the lower deck, DB9’s guest accommodation includes two queen staterooms and two twin staterooms each with an additional Pullman berth. Beautifully finished with contrasting wood paneling, each stateroom enjoys ensuite bathroom facilities.
Sundeck
Beautifully finished with stylish black lounge furniture and oversized parasols, DB9’s vast sundeck is the ideal space to unwind. Take a dip in the on-deck spa, enjoy a leisurely lunch overlooking the Mediterranean or sit back and watch a movie screened on DB9’s open-air cinema.
