Inside the engine room you will find a pair MTU/Detroit Diesel Series 60 825 HP engines. This power package offers a great combination of speed and economy! A fast cruising speed of 28 knots gets you a range of 400 nautical miles and if you drop down to 21 knots your range tops 500 miles. Top speed is around 33 knots. She has the DDEC electronic controls and trolling valves for the ultimate control.
Ask any boat yard which boats their mechanics find the easiest to work on and Cabo tops the list. Why? Because at Cabo, every wire and pipe is run individually and labeled. Chafe protection goes on each bulkhead passage. There isn't a single inch of engine or equipment that can't be easily accessed for routine maintenance or repair.
Access to the engine room is gained through a comfortably large hatch in the cockpit and you won't need any maps to guide you to the filters, switches or valves. Why? Because there isn't a single system or piece of engine equipment that can't be easily accessed for routine maintenance or repair. The fuel lines are aircraft quality braided stainless steel for long life, every hose is double clamped for security, and the wiring and plumbing systems are aerospace quality. Special custom built air intakes supply the engine room with all the air the big turbo diesels need to run at peak efficiency while preventing corrosive salty mist outside from gaining access to your expensive power plants. The most experienced captains in the world were asked how they would set up their engine rooms. The culmination of that input can be seen here in the engine room of the 45 Express. Look under the engines and you will see every inch of surface has been finished with white gelcoat for cleanliness and ease of clean up after spills. An oil changing system is standard as are dripless stuffing boxes.
