2003 53' Selene Ocean Trawler “Infinity” is a three stateroom pilothouse trawler. This Selene 53 is the most popular model and best-selling of the Selene line of Ocean Trawlers. The ample guest stateroom is forward and offers a very comfortable centerline island queen berth. There is no lack of storage with two large drawers at the foot of the berth, cedar lined hanging lockers port and starboard and several other accessible spaces surrounding. There is a recently installed large flatscreen TV on the bulkhead wall to port. Natural light and ventilation abounds with four opening port lights and large hatch overhead. Just aft to starboard is the guest head. Two opening port lights illuminate and ventilate the vanity, sink, VacuFlush toilet and large stall shower.
Continuing aft along the companionway you will note the well-lit steps back up to the pilothouse to your left. Just a few more steps and you are entering the amidships Master Stateroom. A centerline queen berth with a memory foam mattress, custom comforter and pillow shams greets you. With many drawers and cedar lined locker storage you will have ample options to store all your adventure wear including a custom installed safe and recently installed large flatscreen TV. The stateroom has four opening port lights. An ample en-suite head is to starboard nicely laid out also with vanity, sink, VacuFlush toilet and a nice separate stall shower. A water tight door on the bulkhead of the stall shower leads to the engine room. Forward and to port is a nicely proportioned private office / third port stateroom with built in desk, lots of storage and two large bunk beds.
Moving starboard we head up the curved stairs that lead to the pilothouse. Now in the pilothouse, looking forward from the centerline helm seat you have easy reach to all your navigation and systems monitoring. To port and starboard Diamond Seaglaze Dutch Doors which give access to both of the side decks. Behind you have a settee with a table and a watch berth behind it. Beautiful refinements and woodworking give it a touch of charm.
Leaving the pilothouse and continuing aft down two steps the galley is on the port side. From the fully equipped open galley you look back into the very nicely finished and appointed teak salon with teak and holly sole. Your entertainment is provided via a fold away flatscreen TV and a high-end audio sound system. Two leather chairs with custom made matching foot rests store under the chairs. You can move them out and use them to use as an ottoman or you can raise them and use them as extra seating at the table. To port is a built-in settee with storage and a high-low teak table. There is a large engine access door in the sole of the salon if needed.
Up on the flybridge deck you will find a commanding view both fore and aft. From the wheel, you can see the both stern corner rails to give you good situational awareness. With a bow thruster and Throttle and Transmission Controls at (4) Four Stations, the Selene 53 can be tucked nicely into most any spot in the marina. There are (2) helm chairs on the Flybridge, as well as an L-Shaped Settee and a Wet bar with DC plugs. The Flybridge can be accessed via the steps from inside at the Pilothouse or from the aft deck via the flybridge steps. The aft steps are built-in, not a ladder, so you can easily have kids join you or pets without the need to carry them.
The galley is to port and forward of the salon. The galley is especially appreciated owners will have had up to 6 guests aboard overnight and 14 for a day cruise. There is an updated refrigerator and fridge/freezer combination that provides plenty of room for cold storage of food. In addition there is a large Gunert Freezer in the Lazarette. The counter space available for meal preps offers excellent room to prepare while keeping you involved with the conversation in the salon.
The Pilothouse on the Selene 53 offers you a commanding view forward, out the side deck doors, and aft through the salon. The Selene 53 helm is designed to give you information from your electronics, allow you to comfortably maneuver the Selene 53 around docks, and also to offer you a comfortable helm to cruise through your adventures. There is an L-Shaped Settee to the port side of the Pilothouse, just behind the helm chair. It is raised to allow your guests the ability to enjoy the views with you and even enjoy a meal on the small pilothouse table. There is storage below the settee, as well as a pilothouse watch berth for anchor watches or additional guests to bed down. The helm chair swivels around to allow you room to get by. The main electrical panel is located on the port side of the Pilothouse under the helm counter. It houses the AC and DC systems and allows you to manage your power inputs for docking and underway.
When entering the Master cabin from the Pilothouse stairs you will see the Master Head to your starboard. Through the separate shower you will find the Engine Room door to your aft The Centerline fore/aft Island queen has a thick mattress and two night stands with reading lights. There are numerous drawers and (2) illuminated hanging lockers.
Located furthest forward, the VIP has an island queen bed. This is a bright cabin with opening stainless portlights on port and starboard, as well as an overhead opening hatch for both light and ventilation. Hanging illuminated cedar lined lockers are to port & starboard, with drawers for storage on each side and under the berth.
This is the area where you will find the large Gunert Freezer & Watermaker, shore power cords, deck brushes, and the other typical boating gear. The steering gear and rudder can be easily accessed here, as well as the hynautic steering fluid reservior. This is a very clean area that shows the excellent care the owners have taken of this Selene 53.
The Selene Foredeck
Selene believes in making your cruising enjoyable. The foredeck is an example of this for 2 reasons. (1) You have room to work the anchor and have your feet under you on a wide and open foredeck. (2) Take a look at some of the other trawlers available - they are either built with a slippery sheer that in the rain would make docking or pulling the anchor a challenge for footing, or they are tight and have different deck levels to make just getting around the foredeck challenging. The Selene 53 has a wide and open foredeck, no stumbling needed. Entertainment and Enjoyable outdoor space. With the Portuguese Bridge, the Selene foredeck frames the anchor platform and offers you not only the foredeck settee, but also room to add foldable deck chairs to being guests up forward. The anchor platform has a sampson post for lines, as well as room for twin anchors, port and starboard from the anchor platform. The electric windlass can be operated via foot pedals, or at either helm.
