The Viking 48 Sport Tower cuts a commanding figure in the water, and this boat means business. Powered by MAN V8 diesel engines, the 48ST cruises at 30 knots and can reach speeds up to 35 knots. Its forward chine diverts spray downward as it churns through head seas while molded running strakes help with maneuverability and tracking.
Built for spotting tuna, marlin, and swordfish, the 48ST’s tower is a functional, efficient tool with its own set of electronics to help anglers spot and catch more fish. Viking started Palm Beach Towers in 2001 to ensure the quality of towers installed on its boats as well as on-time vessel delivery. Palm Beach Towers builds towers for about 75 percent of Viking Yachts. That’s how serious Viking owners are about catching fish.
The cockpit of the Viking 48 Sport Tower offers 124 square feet of space to move around while wrangling sought-after fish onboard, no matter how much of a battle they put up. There’s lots of storage under aft-facing seating and under deck panels for bait coolers, fish boxes, live bait wells, and assorted gear.
Below its impressive tower, the 48ST yacht’s deckhouse is air-conditioned and surrounded on three sides by a fiberglass enclosure with expansive windows. Three comfortable pedestal seats face the helm’s control panel, which features displays for radar, sonar, GPS, and more. The centerline helm gives the captain 360-degree views and power-assisted hydraulic steering for sharp turning and circling ability.
In the salon below, the galley is situated across the 17-foot beam to maximize its space. Necessities are kept under wraps behind doors and panels to continue the flow of the cabin uninterrupted. Gleaming wood finishes add warmth and coziness, and a V-shape Cambria countertop offers space for food preparation, cooking, and cleanup. Cambria combines pure, hard, natural quartz with resins, polymers, and pigments to deliver a tough, hard-working surface that withstands heat and scratches well.
Two L-shape banquettes offer plenty of seating in the adjacent lounge. Each surrounds a large table so guests can enjoy drinks and snacks while cruising to the captain’s favorite fishing spots. A hidden refrigerator keeps trips to the galley to a minimum, so no one misses a moment of action above deck. The L-shape banquette and table offer space for dining, reading, and relaxing in air-conditioned comfort. Here, kids can watch the wall-mounted flat-screen TV or play a board game when the weather sends them below deck.
The 48ST accommodates four adults comfortably. The forward master stateroom hosts a queen-size berth, ample storage, and private access to the bath. The guest stateroom contains two bunk beds as well as plenty of storage.
The Viking 48 Sport Tower yacht is the epitome of a luxury fishing boat with the exclusive Tuna Tower with enough space to reel in the big one.
