The Viking 48 Convertible’s salon has the look and feel of one found in a much larger yacht. Hand-crafted, glossy walnut woodwork and sumptuous seating fill the cabin with a luxurious essence. Clean finishes that always look sparkling and new combine with plenty of natural light from large, rectangular windows to achieve a sense of spaciousness and livability in this space amidships. Ample storage, a large-screen TV, and overhead lighting for cozy evenings make the salon the hub of this vessel.
The full-service galley allows chefs to make today’s catch tonight’s dinner with ease and speed. A four-burner hob, stainless steel sink, under-counter refrigerator, microwave/convection oven, and raised, solid-surface counter facing the salon ensure that the cook is always part of the conversation in the entertainment center of the Viking 48 Convertible.
With two or three staterooms, the 48C can accommodate four to six adults comfortably. The master stateroom features a double berth, plenty of storage, and an en-suite bath for the utmost privacy. Solid-surface countertops, warm woodwork, and walk-in showers populate both bathrooms. Bunk beds, LED TVs, and ample storage make guests feel welcome in the port and starboard staterooms. A stackable washer/dryer combination and central vacuum add even more convenience to the 48C.
The 48 Convertible keeps its clean lines and uncluttered feel because most of the necessities are stored ingeniously behind pull-up hatches. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the cockpit, where rich teak decking is interrupted only by pull rings and barely-there hinges that reveal live wells, bait boxes, refrigerated storage, and even the Seakeeper 9 stability system. There’s more storage behind concealed compartments under the cockpit’s bench seat, and the hidden engine room is behind a hatch under the door leading to the salon.
This notion of keeping less-than-beautiful but necessary items under wraps continues to the flybridge, where electronics stowed out of sight under recessed panels flank the steering wheel and flow seamlessly into the helm controls. A drop-down panel above the steering wheel hides monitors that display readings for the Seakeeper system, Garmin GPS, and Furuno navigational data organizer. Lots of comfortable seating on the bridge keeps guests in contact with the captain while he steers toward his favorite fishing spot.
The flybridge enclosed on three sides by Costa Clear Bimini curtains, protects occupants from flying spray and inclement weather on the seas. The black wraparound windows on the main deck add to the Viking 48C’s stunning profile, and its prominent bow is free of unnecessary chrome, making the entire vessel seem to flow from bow to stern in one long, uninterrupted piece of yachting perfection.
