Today, Albin Yachts is a division of Robert Christopher Yacht Sales, based in Stamford, CT. Although the smaller boats in the Albin line are only available pre-owned, the larger ones are still being semi-custom built, from the 43-foot North Sea cutter to the 120-foot Grand Sport mega-yacht. And the company has introduced new models, including the 52-foot TE Grand Sportfish, the 65-foot North Sea cutter, and the aforementioned 120-foot Grand Sport mega-yacht.
Albin offers clients a variety of power options and drive systems. Owners may choose bow thrusters and a yacht controller for better close-quarters handling, state-of-the-art technology and electronics, a straight drive or pod drive system, and the latest joystick technology. Volvo, Cummins, and Caterpillar engines are available.
Albin made its debut in the 65-foot-plus market with the 65-foot North Sea cutter, a tri-cabin cruising yacht whose origins trace back to the 1980s with the Ray Hunt hull. This yacht is designed for mariners who want a rugged cruising yacht combined with spacious interiors and luxe amenities. She has a modified V-shaped hull and can reach speeds of 22 knots. Her indoor pilot house means that she can run in any weather while her captain stays dry and comfortable.
The 45 Command Bridge has just that: a bridge with a commanding 360-degree view. The bridge’s low profile improves the boat’s stability, and its 85 square feet offer plenty of seating. This boat was designed to give a stable ride in heavy seas. The cockpit includes a sink, shower, and optional icemaker, and the Sport Fish model has bins and wells in the transom. This majestic vessel has teak and holly sole throughout as well as full teak interiors. The galley includes a full-size refrigerator, three-burner stove, electric exhaust blower, microwave oven, and plenty of storage while the nearby dining area accommodates a sizeable U-shaped banquette and cherry table. A king-size bed dominates the master stateroom, which also has two large lockers, plenty of drawer space, and its own bath with a separate shower.
Considered by their owners to be rugged and economical, Albin yachts are still in demand. Even yachts built decades ago are a testament to the quality and attention to detail Albin builds into each boat and yacht.
