Prestige 750 Flybridge

If you are looking for a boat that has ample entertaining space or one to cruise with your family and friends then this is a great boat for you. The Prestige 750 has exceptional exterior and interior living space as well as a layout that affords privacy, safety, and ease of movement on board.

The galley is aft, which is a current trend. By having an aft galley it allows for the cook to easily socialize and serve the dining area, salon, and aft deck. The galley is L-shaped allowing for ample counter space as well as a way to separate the galley from the salon. The galley also features an island that allows for two people to easily work in the galley at the same time. To the starboard is the dining area. This dining area can sit six to eight people. Having a stand-alone table is something that is rarely seen on a yacht this size.

The salon on the Prestige 750 has a very open feel. This openness facilitates a two-way flow through the boat as well as providing room when there are a lot of guest on board. The salon features three sofas and an ottoman that can seat eight people comfortably. It also has a flat screen TV that is on an electronic lift. The lower helm is conveniently located on the other side of the salon. This allows for the captain to easily socialize with guests while underway.

A unique feature of the Prestige 750 is the main deck master stateroom. This is a feature that is rarely found on motor yachts below 100 feet. Similarly, to larger boats the master is forward of the salon with a private companionway entrance. The master stateroom features a king sized bed, a lounger and nice sized walk-in closet to port and desk to starboard that doubles as a vanity. The master head highlights a large shower stall and doublewide sink.

Below deck there are three staterooms and two heads, plus crew quarters abaft the engine room. The VIP stateroom is full beam and would be the master stateroom on most boats this size. The VIP stateroom on the...

Prestige 620 Flybridge

The Prestige 620 Flybridge has been extremely well executed in nearly every detail. This cruising boat has an interior layout that is hard to beat, as it is slightly different than most in its class.

Opening the sliding glass doors to the interior you are greeted by the galley. The galley has been strategically located here because it is between the two main dining areas, the formal dining in the salon and the aft deck. The wood in the galley is stunning and the island is a nice added bonus adding extra food prep space. Also, cabinets overhead and along the starboard side allow for plenty of storage.

The salon on the Prestige 620 Flybridge has a very open feel. Additionally it has an incredible amount of natural light, as there are large windows on both sides plus a sunroof overhead.  Instead of built in banquettes there is a stand alone sofa and a chair. In my opinion this adds a since of elegance to the boat. When it is time for dinner the cocktail table rises to form a formal dinning table. Additionally, two chairs can be pulled out of storage to accommodate dining for seven.

Below deck the Prestige 620 Flybridge can accommodate six guests plus crew in three staterooms and a crews quarters. The master is a full beam master that features a desk/vanity combo on the port, a sofa on the starboard and an en suite with dual basins. The VIP stateroom lies forward. It features a centerline mounted island berth with ample storage underneath. There also are two hanging lockers and it has its own private head. The third stateroom features twin berths and can easily be converted into a large double. This stateroom also has its own private head.

The aft deck on the 620 Flybridge is a place that you will want to spend a lot of time because it is a comfortable outdoor living space. It features a couch and table and you can add extra chairs for dining if you desire. It also has the stairs to the flybridge.

Prestige 550 Flybridge

The Prestige 550 Flybridge is a beautiful boat with a timeless profile. As with other Prestige boats the mission was to build the best boat possible and still make her affordable. Well, Prestige did a great job of doing just that! They also did a great job of the functionality of this boat. The 550 Fly is perfect for hosting a variety of guests as if offers several entertaining spaces and a mix of berths.

The main deck on the Prestige 550 Fly is designed for entertaining. It features the salon, galley, and dining areas. Entering from the aft through the tri-doors is the galley. The galley is strategically located in the aft to make it easy on the cook for entertaining and serving food. Completing the main deck are the salon and dining areas. It features a sofa on the starboard side and U-Shaped settee with a coffee table that can be raised for dining on the port side. There is also a lower helm with double seating. This space provides the perfect space to socializing with guests, the captain, and the cook.

Down below, the Prestige 550 Fly is able to sleep up to six guests in three staterooms, plus there is a crew cabin in the aft. The full-beam master stateroom will make you feel right at home. It features a large centerline bed, a small booth-type seating for two, a walk-in closet, and a large en-suite head. The VIP stateroom is perfect for a couple or for children because it has a split berth. This means that the bed can be a queen or pivoted out to be two twin beds. The third stateroom is a twin berth that shares a head with the VIP staterooms.

There is also plenty of exterior living space on the Prestige 550 Fly. The aft deck is rather large and will likely be a favorite among owners and guests. It features an overhang providing plenty of shade, the stairs to the bridge, a couch, and room to make it your own. Off the aft deck is the swim platform. This will likely be a favorite among the kids. On the bow is a sunpad where you can soak in the rays. However,...

Prestige Yachts 500 Fly: Large Interior Spaces for Living

Prestige 500 Fly

The placement of the hullside windows is a clue to the layout: The biggest window usually serves the master stateroom, as it does aboard the 500 Fly. Smaller windows provide plenty of light to other cabin spaces, too.

Rethinking the Accommodations

In the past year or so, Prestige has introduced several yachts that make use of pod drives for more than just propulsion: Pods leave room amidships for a full-beam stateroom, like the one aboard the Prestige 500 Fly. In the past, this valuable space in the widest part of the hull, and the most comfortable part under way, was occupied by engines; now it's occupied by people.

Prestige 500 Fly

The lower deck is stateroom country: three of them, and two heads, forward of the engine room and an optional crew cabin aft. We doubt many owners will carry crew aboard a 500 Fly – she's perfect for owner operation -- so that space will find other uses.

What's most surprising is Prestige's ability to fit this layout aboard a boat that's under 50' overall. The 500 Fly has 49' 1" (15.2 m) LOA – 48' 11" (14.92 m) without the platform – but has room below decks for not only an owner's suite with breakfast nook and lounge seat, but also a VIP cabin forward and a twin-berth cabin between the two. And two heads with stall showers. (Prestige's 500S, an express cruiser similar to the 500 Fly, has the same layout.)

Prestige 500 Fly

In days past this would have been the engine room, but pods turn it into the owner's suite. Along with the centerline berth, there's a lounge seat (behind the camera) and a small dinette for two. At the left is the access stairway from the salon.

There's a tendency today for designers to focus on double berths – we've seen many boats with nothing but doubles. But in the real world, not everyone wants to share. Prestige deals with this by making both guest cabins convertible: The VIP stateroom, forward, has an island double that scissors open to form V-berths, while the third, twin-berth, stateroom comes with a filler.

The forward cabin's...

Prestige 680: Filled with Clever and Innovative Features

The all-new Prestige 680 motoryacht is loaded with features found on much larger boats, and in fact, she can accommodate as many people as most 100-footers. Many of the features are cleverly used to enhance functionality. She is owner/operator friendly, yet has the interior space of a much larger boat that might require a paid captain. She comes with a three stateroom or four stateroom layout, something that is unusual in class. Perhaps most significant for a boat in her size range is her forward master stateroom just a couple of steps down from the main deck.

Key Features

  • Hydraulic platform
  • Load capacity of 882 lbs. (400 kg)
  • Generator (22 kVa to 230v)
  • 86,000 BTU Mediterranean air conditioning
  • All living spaces on one level
  • 360-degree panoramic views
  • Independent owner’s suite and guest suites
  • Wide side decks
  • Retractable sunshades
  • POD Joystick system

With four staterooms including a separate master suite, the Prestige 680 can wear numerous hats ranging from single-couple living all the way through chartering for profit.

Overview

The Prestige 680 is a luxury yacht designed to be practical in various functions including entertaining and distance cruising and have an exterior style which will be ageless. Her exterior design is purposely not fussy or over-the-top contemporary, rather it is a more traditional marine approach to a motoryacht, rather than showing the influences of flavor-of-the-month design fads. In keeping with the Prestige heritage, she is relatively light for her size, due to advanced manufacturing techniques that deliver the same strength to a lighter hull.

Like all Prestige yachts, she is built to CE requirements, which are generally more demanding than American NMMA/ABYC standards, and, of course, the vessels meets those rules as well.

Her build is a result of proprietary computer aided design software and digitally-controlled assembly ensures all components are finished and assembled correctly the first time, according to the builder. Inside,...

Prestige 450 S: Modern Styling with Good Performance

Following the success of the 500 and 550 models, Prestige sets its sights on a smaller version, but no less practical in its layout and utility. This 450, much like her predecessors, will be offered in both a sport and flying bridge version, and offers many of the same amenities as her larger siblings exemplifying Prestige’s design flair for use of space. As with all Prestige Yachts, this 450 also demonstrates the company’s attitude towards keeping the glitz to a minimum and thereby maximizing the value for the money.

Mission Statement

The mission of the 450 models is to provide the same quality, fit and finish of the larger 500 and 550 yachts, in a smaller and more affordable version while still providing a truly private master stateroom, with its private entrance.

With IPS pods the maneuverability of the Prestige 450 is increased considerably. Notice the multiple hullside windows allowing each stateroom to have dramatic views.

Without the flying bridge, a large opening sunroof over the salon brings more of the outside to the inside. There’s also an increase in useable space in the aft deck without the ladder to the flying bridge.

Distinguishing Features

Private Master Is Private. Most yachts in this class have the master stateroom in the bow and they are usually accessed from a forward companionway, along with the guest stateroom. Not so with the 450. Her master stateroom is accessed from a private companionway between the salon and galley. This is the only way to allow the master to be fully private, and separate from the VIP stateroom forward.

Scissor VIP Berth. The berth in the forward VIP stateroom is able to separate and come together, much like a pair of scissors, to create either separate twin beds or a single queen-sized berth.

Galley Aft. Having the galley aft allows it to be within easy reach of the two main gathering areas plus the flying bridge.

IPS Propulsion. With IPS propulsion...

Prestige 550 Flybridge BoatTest Captain's Report

Prestige 550 Fly

All Prestige Yachts share a family resemblance with large windows in the topsides and an overall timeless profile. The 550 Flybridge looks poised to leap ahead, thanks to her raked stem and transom. Standard power is twin 600-hp Cummins diesels with Zeus pods.

Mission Statement

The mission statement for the Prestige 550 Flybridge is basically the same as the rest of the Prestige line. Build the best boat possible, and make her affordable by focusing on form and function and leave out the fluff. You will find solid composite countertops, wall-to-wall carpeting, and fiberglass overheads maximize interior room and utility. Prestige designers stay away from “flavor of the month” styling.

Overview

In 2011 Prestige earned praise in Europe for four new boats introduced: the 350, 400, 500 and 500S. Success breeds success – in the boating world just like anywhere else. The company has designed for two versions on a 58' 10" (17.92 m) LOA hull: The 550 express and 550 Flybridge motoryachts. All four of the new 2011 models were innovative in one sense or another, and we think the new intros are equally interesting.

Prestige 550 Fly

This is becoming the layout we expect for pod-powered yachts: A full-beam master stateroom amidships, guest quarters forward of that and a crew's cabin aft, atop the pods. We like that Prestige includes a mix of doubles and single berths in the 550 layout, making her suitable for a range of guests. Each cabin benefits from large windows in the topsides; the master has essentially picture windows on either side.

Distinguishing Features

Engines mounted forward. Instead of putting the Cummins diesels directly in front of the pods, they are moved farther forward to more evenly distribute the weight around the boat's longitudinal center of gravity. This keeps the 550 from having excessive bow rise and allows for the ride at a more sedate 5-degree bow high attitude. The Zeus pods are located well aft, under the crew quarters berth, and a jackshaft connects...

BoatTest.com Prestige 750 Review

Prestige has created the 750 to provide consumers with most of the amenities found in yachts in this class as well as providing a seaworthy hull more easily propelled for operational efficiency. Further, because of Group Beneteau's infrastructure and inherent efficiencies it is able to provide a substantial value in this size range, while maintaining all of the demanding standards of CE construction.

With 4 staterooms and three heads, plus an optional crew cabin aft, the Prestige 750 makes a yacht suitable for both an owner/operator and the charter trade.

Distinguishing Features

Main Deck Master. The master stateroom of the Prestige 750 is forward and down a couple of steps but is virtually on the main deck. This important detail alone sets her apart from all other boats in class. Why is this important, aside from the fact that this design is rarely seen on any motoryacht below 100'? The answers are obvious: 1) the owners are only a couple of steps from their guests and the action; 2) there are no steep stairs to negotiate; and, 3) the owner/operator is only a few steps from the lower helm.

Lighter/Narrower. At 17'10" (5.46 m) beam, the Prestige 750 is the narrowest motoryacht in class from anywhere from a few inches to a foot or more. This detail has its pros and cons and the consumer will have to decide where to come down on this subject. Because the boat is narrower it is naturally lighter. Because she is lighter she draws less water and the combination of these three aspects of her design makes her easier to push through the water. That means her engines can be smaller, saving more weight, and therefore all things being equal she will be able to burn less fuel or go faster – or both – compared to her competition.

Profile drawing of the Prestige 750 shows the running gear and the forefoot of the vessel. Note that virtually all of her length is used for living spaces.

The con of this design profile is the distinct possibility of less interior volume, more narrow...

BoatTest.com Review of the 2015 Prestige 620

Prestige 620 (2015-) Captain's Report

By Captain Steve

Prestige 60

We think the Prestige 620 is extremely well-executed in virtually every detail, obviously the work of veteran cruising boaters who know how such a motoryacht is used and what it must have.

I got a chance to test this boat that I had become so enamored with, the Prestige 620, and see if she really was the ideal cruiser that I had made her out to be. Would she be as captivating in reality offshore as she was in my daytime reveries?

Prestige 60

Captain Steve tested the Prestige 620 in Cannes, France.

Handling Characteristics

Before I get into the handling characteristics, I have to point out that the Prestige 620 was powered by the IPS900 drives. It's important to know this, and to understand that there are particular characteristics of pods that directly affect how a boat handles, most notably, in the turning performance.

At full speed, the range of motion of the pods is limited so that one doesn't suddenly bolt off at a 90-degree angle at full speed. This assures gentle turns that don't send the dishes and crockery tumbling out of the cabinets and your guests will appreciate that as well. This is yachting, and not the time for a heavy hand.

Prestige 60

The Prestige 620 is nimble with only 2-1/2 turns of the wheel lock-to-lock. It was easy to dodge trap buoys as we sped along the French Riviera.

With that said, the Prestige 620 is still quite responsive to the helm, thanks to the 2-1/2 turns from lock-to-lock at the wheel. The operator will still get very agile handling, and that's an important feature to someone like me from New England where someone can't swing a rudder without hitting a lobster pot.

Even off the south coast of France, we were testing in an area littered with trap buoys, and regardless of how quickly they managed to "pop up", the quick but gentle response to the helm made dodging them a non-event. The 620 exhibits roughly a 3-degree roll into the turn at full speed, and I find that to be quite comfortable.

There's really no bow...

2014 Prestige 550 Flybridge

Prestige did not cut any corners in designing the 2014 550 Prestige Flybridge! This magnificent vessel cruises smoothly and quietly and is a pleasure to drive. You have the choice to captain the 550 from the spacious flybridge and enjoy the sun in your face and wind in your hair, or from below at the air-conditioned helm. The auto-pilot and Ray Marine electronics on this Prestige make entering and tracking a waypoint very simply. The maneuverability makes docking easy even for a novice captain. This is not only because of the three docking locations to choose from, but also having the Zeus Joystick System at all three locations.

The layout of the interior of this 550 Prestige was designed for great visibility as well as entertaining. While in the salon you will enjoy a 360-degree view as the windows stretch all the way around salon and galley area. This is great for natural light to the salon and it really opens up the vessel for a large and spacious feeling. Another outstanding feature on the Prestige 550 is the aft galley. The galley is the first area of the boat you see when entering from the cockpit. This is ideal as it allows you to entertain your guests and still be a part of the conversation and company of everyone gathered in the cockpit as well as the salon. Another amazing design feature of the 550 is the separate entrance to the master stateroom, which provides privacy from the other staterooms. There are two additional staterooms forward with 1 head.

The amount of seating in the flybridge of this vessel is astounding. With L-shaped seating wrapped around a table for your dining pleasure and spacious sun cushions that are great for laying out and relaxing while underway or anchored. The conveniently placed fridge on the flybridge keeps your drinks cold and easily accessible saving the numerous trips up and down the stairs for refreshments. The retractable canopy top allows the guests on aboard to relax in the shade or have fun in the sun.

Sneak Peek Of The New 42' Prestige In The Test Tanks!

As our plane descended into Nantes on June 23, 2014, Jennifer and I felt excited and proud to travel to France’s 6th largest city. Prestige Yachts, built by Group Beneteau, is located in Nantes, and my first Dealer Meeting with their team was scheduled for several days during that week. Galati Yacht Sales added this outstanding brand to our already impressive line of yachts, just prior to the Miami International Boat Show.

Prestige has become a global brand with international flair and distinction, and we saw firsthand why. The meeting began with an overview of the company’s 22-year history and a discussion of their goals, strengths and passion to the yachting industry.

During the weeklong meeting, Prestige emphasized their commitment to the USA market, announcing the purchase of several U.S. boat companies, including Four Winns and Wellcraft. As their commitment continues to grow, Prestige is focused on creating an ocean going yacht with performance, design and value that matches the American market needs.

A factory tour at the end of the week provided insight to their advanced manufacturing and automation techniques. For example, seven tanks at the end of the line thoroughly test every boat prior to leaving the factory. Prestige’s process is also well documented on boattest.com. After the factory tour, I clearly understood how their yachts combine the perfect balance between performance and comfort.

I strongly suggest that anyone interested in boating take the time to call one of our yacht specialists today and inquire about this fabulous brand. Galati has several new models in stock for you to view and sea trial. I am confident that you will share my passion for this builder.

Prestige 550 Flybridge

The high performance Prestige 550 motor yacht, part of the Prestige Flybridge Division, is French design and décor at its very best.

The vessel’s spacious layout includes three staterooms and a crew cabin test boat. The master stateroom has a “palatial look” with a walk-in closet, en suite head, and separate dressing room. The forward guest cabin and second mid-ship guest cabin share a dry head and each have a queen sized berth that converts to twins. Enter the crew cabin from the cockpit to see a separate shower, head and transom window.

Open views of the exterior are available from the fully equipped galley which serves the main cabin as well as the cockpit.

Thanks to a large sunroof located on the starboard side, passengers can enjoy the open breeze from the vessel’s second lounge seating area or while driving from the lower helm station.

Entertaining guests is also a breeze on the fly bridge with plenty of seating options and a beverage serving area that includes a sink, grill and small refrigerator.

The Prestige 550’s twin 600 HP 8.3 L Cummins QSC diesels are connected to the Zeus pod drives by jackshafts moving the engines forward and thus distributing the vessel’s weight to add to the boat’s practicality. Although the vessel is designed to cruise in the mid-twenties, it is able to reach more than 30 knots with a wide open throttle.

Impeccable French design, spacious layout, state-of-the-art electronics and overall practicality make the Prestige 550 Flybridge a worthy vessel for any boating enthusiast.

Prestige 750 Yacht Captain's Report

The designers of Prestige Yachts commissioned an in-depth survey of actual owners of large motoryachts to find out what they liked and didn't like about their boats. Further, they asked them if they were designing a 72-footer, how would they layout the yacht? Prestige calls this process "VOC" -- Voice of Customer. Today we take a look at the layout of the new Prestige 750 and there are some pleasant surprises.

Main Deck
First of all, the main deck plan is symmetrical. Prestige considered doing an asymmetrical deck in order to get more room in the main house, but by carefully designing the superstructure it was able to build an interior that was nearly 14' (4.26 m) wide, which could handle not only the salon, but the galley and formal dining area as well -- and still have adequately wide side decks.

Galley Placement
The trend that we have been seeing lately -- that is of moving the galley aft and opening it up -- was confirmed by VOC and Prestige has placed the galley on the port side next to the opening to the aft deck. By making the galley an L-shape, the designers were able to both separate it from the salon and have more counter space. An island adds even more counter space and separates the galley from the dining area to starboard. We like the island galley concept because it eliminates the "dead end" alley of a U-shape that makes it hard for two people to work there at the same time.

The location of the galley is handy to all four entertaining venues -- the dining table to starboard, the salon, the seating area on the aft deck and the stairs ascending to the flying bridge.

Dining Area
The drawings seen here show six chairs at the table, but the folks at Prestige assure us that the table can seat eight -- two for each the boat's four staterooms. We like this layout because too many boats in the 72' range -- particularly in raised pilothouse vessels -- do not have a formal dining table. Usually they have an L-shaped banquette next to the helm of the raised bridge deck....
