Grand Banks 46 Easybay SX/FB Yacht Description
Meet the Grand Banks 46 Eastbay SX/FB, this 46 is available as an SX or Fly bridge model; it’s a boat that brings familiar good looks and new innovations to the table. This is the first use of POD drives in a Grand Banks, combining classic elegance with modern engines. There are many benefits that they can offer to both performance and interior design and you will be impressed with the flexibility such systems offer to the yacht buyer.
With the touch of a joystick the captain has precise control for docking or maintaining position in rough seas. You will instantly appreciate the Zeus POD drives when taking the helm, because they seem to make low speed maneuvering almost worry free. There are other benefits besides low speed handling including 30 percent better fuel efficiency, lower engine noise, less vibration and almost no exhaust. The smaller engines also allow for more space in the living spaces and make cabin layouts flexible. Grand Banks offers many choices for cabin layouts on the 46 Eastbay SX/FB courtesy of the space afforded by the small but powerful Zeus Pods.
A standard layout for the main deck has the galley down, with plenty of seating in the salon and two staterooms. The salon has a U-shaped settee to port, a straight settee to starboard, a teak table and a bench seat across from the helm chair. The liberal use of teak and leather upholstery creates a classic interior that is illuminated by large windows all around. Optionally there is a galley-up configuration that put the kitchen on one level with the salon and may be preferable to some. In either case the galley is decked out with all you could need including stainless sinks, plenty of storage and modern appliances. Below in the staterooms a similar approach is taken to provide all you could want for a good night's rest.
Standard layout of the 46 Eastbay SX features two staterooms, with a master in the bow and a double guest stateroom amidships to starboard. The master stateroom has a large queen-sized berth with a separate en suite and everywhere you look there is teak. Storage is nicely integrated and there are also reading lights built in to the headboard. In the guest stateroom a double berth sleeps two and the second head is just outside in the next doorway. Optionally by moving the galley up to the salon level there is room for another stateroom and there are options to add crew quarters by converting the utility room into a single berth. The Zeus PODs make choosing an interior layout both easy and practical.
Outside on the cockpit deck there is a rear facing seat for watching your wake or trolling for fish. To converse with those inside simply press a button and the window into the salon drops quietly into the bulkhead opening up the space to air or conversation. If the day is beautiful a captain may decide to open the large sunroof and let in some air and sunlight. With a top speed around 34 knots this isn't your old Grand Banks. Large handrails make getting to the bow deck safe. The spacious cockpit deck is inviting on nice days making the interior of this yacht not always the star of the show.
Grand Banks has initiated a paradigm shift by introducing POD drives into its 46 Eastbay SX. Not only does the boat benefit greatly from the performance characteristics of these engines but also the added space means more options are larger living spaces aboard. Day and longer cruises are comfortable and fun on this beautifully customizable yacht. Old traditions of teak interiors and classic lines meet perfectly with new technology to create a boat unlike any other. You will be amazed from the first step on the decks.
