ALL NEW Viking 62 with Seakeeper Gyro Will be a Game Changer in the Gulf
We are very excited about this new model as well as the Seakeeper gyro stabilizer. We have just taken delivery of hull no 004 and will be showing her off at gulf tournaments this summer.
This ALL NEW 62 Convertible is a showpiece in the Viking tradition with a fusion of leading edge engineering. She has a composite cored hull that is resin infused with a high modulus of Dupont’s Kevlar, carbon fiber and knitted fiberglass laminates selected to reduce weight while increasing the overall physical properties of the structure. Staying in line with this thought process (weight and strength), the 62 Convertible’s interior stateroom and hanging locker doors, as well as cabinet fronts throughout the yacht incorporate honeycomb coring for further weight reduction.
She also has recessed engine cooling water pickups, refined propeller pocket entry to enhance flow to the five-bladed wheels for reduced noise with better traction and modified architecture to the struts and rudders that add to an efficient and slippery running surface. She delivers speeds in excess of 42 knots with a pair of Caterpillar C32-A engines rated at 1,925 mhp.
For stabilization, this boat has the Seakeeper gyro installed. This is a vacuum-sealed gyro stabilizer and operates at 5,000 rpm to create a powerful righting force, which eliminates rolling motion. Unlike exterior fin-like stabilizers, which mount to the hull bottom and are susceptible to damage from groundings, lobster trap lines and water debris, the Seakeeper is nestled safely in the boat, simplifying maintenance and upkeep.
Her first debut in the gulf will be at the Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama on Memorial Day Weekend. Be sure to stop by to see this incredible fishing machine.
