Canadians and Aussies have a lot on common and it seems that one ‘true blue Aussie’, the luxury Maritimo cruiser range, has struck a chord with Canadian boaties.
Built tough for Australian conditions and sold around the world Maritimo luxury cruisers are being seen more and more in Canadian cruising destinations and marinas.
Maritimo USA President Dave Northrop said the number of Maritimo sales in Canada in the past 12 months had been unprecedented and had accounted for 25 percent of all Maritimo global sales in that time.
“Canada boasts some of the finest cruising destinations in the world from the incredible salt water Fiords of the North West and British Columbia to the pristine waterways of Georgian Bay and the North Channel in Ontario and Maritimo’s cruising motor yacht range is right at home here,” he said.
“Maritimo’s are serious boaties’ boats and the man behind the company that manufacturers them, Bill Barry-Cotter, is recognised internationally as the doyen of Australian boat building and a leader in vessel design and technology.
“The Maritimo Offshore Powerboat Racing Team has a World Championship to its credit and the learnings that have evolved from highly competitive offshore racing against the World’s best are within the very DNA of the cruising motor yacht range.
“Canadians love their boating and they know how to use their boats and how to get the most out of long distance cruising and that is why the Maritimo range of vessels is a perfect fit for this market and environment.”
Mr. Northrop said Maritimo’s enclosed flybridge designs, with interior staircase, and endless amenities for long range cruising add to the popularity of the vessels. He said the introduction of the new luxurious full beam master suites into the range several years ago had turbo charged the sales rates internationally with Canadian sales alone up 400 percent in 2013.
“We have the perfect combination now - a range of cruisers that will take virtually whatever Mother Nature wants to throw up to them in a package that is luxurious, highly functional, liveable and spacious enough for long term comfortable family cruising,” he said.
“Aussies are known internationally for their no nonsense, tough and adventurous nature and the Maritimo range epitomises those traits.
“That is why Canadians have taken to the brand so well.”
He said the attention to detail in design of the motor yachts has resulted in exceptional sea keeping ability and industry leading fuel efficiency across the Maritimo range. The interior fit outs and quality of materials used in their manufacture is without peer.
Maritimo will have a selection of its race bred cruising motor yachts on display at two up coming Canadian boat shows - Galati Yacht Sales will be representing Maritimo at the Toronto Show between January 11 and 19 and Blackfish Marina Sales will be showing the range at the Vancouver Boat Show from January 22 to 26.
“Anyone considering rewarding themselves with the cruising lifestyle would be well served to take a look Down Under before making any buying decisions,” he said. “They will get a pleasant surprise.”
