The Ft Myers Rendezvous, May 17-19, was blessed with perfect weather and beautiful venue. We arrived on Friday at Legacy Harbor Marina in downtown Ft Myers. The floating docks, clean facilities and helpful staff greeted us as we pulled in around 3pm Friday afternoon. Our group included 8 boats and 21 guest. Legacy Harbor is located in the heart of downtown Ft Myers within easy walking distance to the Ford and Edison Summer Homes. The thriving downtown district, which has undergone a renaissance in recent years, features lots of great restaurants and shops. Friday evening we all gathered at the Chikke Hut at Legacy Harbor for our traditional Docktail Party to renew old friendships and enjoy some great BBQ. Everyone brought a dish to share. It was the perfect evening.
On Saturday, some of our boaters walked to the Ford and Edison Summer Home and Edison Museum just a few blocks away to toured these historic sites. The story of the friendship that developed between Ford and Edison is fascinating and the Edison Museum showcases the genius of Thomas Edison and how his inventions changed the course of history.
Friday evening we gathered at the Morgan House Restaurant in Downtown Ft Myers for a wonderful meal and great fellowship. Again the weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.
Sunday morning, Carole and Kerry hosted everyone aboard Team Galati for a nice leisurely breakfast before everyone headed for home. As always, it was an honor to host our customers and provide the opportunity to relax and enjoy the camaraderie with other boaters.
