OCONTO, Wis. (Sept. 8, 2010) - Cruisers Yachts, Wisconsin's premier manufacturer of luxury yachts, is proud to announce the official debut of the 48 Cantius Sports Coupe at its 2011 annual international dealer meeting in Oconto, Wis., followed by a public unveiling at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show held Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, 2010. The stylish 48 Cantius, complete with Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, is yet another example of how Cruisers Yachts has created an innovative product without compromising comfort or function.
"The luxurious 48 Cantius has been well worth the wait," said Jon Viestenz, product manager for Cruisers Yachts. "Our engineering team held nothing back when designing the 48 Cantius, making the walk-thru windshield, dual-entrance cockpit and double salons standard amenities that you won’t find with our competition. We took the same care in choosing a name to represent the vessel."
Cruisers Yachts, a part of KCS International, Inc., named the yacht in honor of Cantius Stock, the late father of KCS International, Inc. CEO K.C. Stock. "There are simply no words to describe what this tribute means to me, my family and the heritage of the company," said K.C. Stock. "The values my father built his company on are still in practice today at Cruisers Yachts; from the way the business is run to the level of craftsmanship each of our vessels are concepted and built. The idea that the name 'Cantius' will be placed on our latest luxury yacht is a testament to the man, leader and father that Cantius Stock was."
48 Cantius: Above Deck
Starting at the bow, the windlass anchor and chain is recessed into the hull which enhances the sleek design that the Cruisers Yachts sports coupe series is known for. Stainless steel grab rails run along both sides of the foredeck chaise lounge cushion for a safe and maneuverable foredeck. Boaters can transition from the foredeck into the helm through the walk-through windshield, a signature design of Cruisers Yachts.
When it comes to entertaining, the 48 Cantius has got it covered with double salons. Each salon is suited for all entertaining needs. The upper salon comes standard with a wet bar including sink, bottle storage and trash receptacle. Boaters have the option of a 32" Sony Bravia television that is conveniently located behind the wet bar and mounted on a hi-low mechanism for easy storage when not in use. The upper salon is complimented by the walk-through windshield, power actuated 71" by 71" sunroof with manual sun shade and tri-slide upper salon glass door for 360 degrees of visibility and 165 square feet of enclosed glass. The 48 Cantius has upped the ante with the competition by providing an air vent on the walk-through windshield door standard to allow for natural ventilation in all weather conditions.
The upper salon can easily entertain six adults with the standard double helm seat, featuring flip-up bolsters and companion seat. The companion seat comes with a lounging arrangement and multi-functioning dinette table that sits at the same level across from the helm on the port side. The truly remarkable area of the helm is the navigational center. This cutting edge station offers unique command of the vessel and monitoring of the Twin Volvo Penta IPS 500-600 engines. Revolutionary Volvo Penta IPS engines with joystick are standard so the vessel is more efficient and easier to maneuver, while reducing noise and vibration when underway. Since the propulsion units are mounted just forward of the transom, accessing the engine room is made easy through a wide hatch in the cockpit flooring. The engine room offers a bright, enjoyable area with a ceiling height of 5'4" and ample room for tool storage and extra equipment.
At the stern of the boat, the u-shaped transom seating area converts into a sun lounge by use of a teak hi-low gas assist table. The back of the transom seating lifts up, offering immense storage for cleaning materials, lines, fenders and an array of water toys. A universal full-beam swim platform comes with aluminum backings so it can be easily converted into a hi-low lift, with capacity of up to 800 lbs. Waste no time getting on and off the water as the 48 Cantius has made preparing and closing up the boat a breeze by eliminating canvasses and providing all-weather slip-on covers for the transom seating and foredeck lounge areas. Board the vessel safely with the 14" side boarding that runs from the stern to the mid-ship.
48 Cantius: Below Deck
Step below deck and notice how the 48 Cantius has changed how boaters think about the lower salon. The traditional disconnect between the upper helm and lower salon no longer exists, offering effortless transition and communication throughout the vessel. An abundance of natural light pours into the galley through the open dash. The raised ceilings sit at just under 7' at the entrance of the galley. Extra large below-deck hull port lights amplify visibility in the galley and are engineered for a deeper, richer look to resemble more of the mega yacht feel.
The lower salon features a standard L-shaped sofa with double recliners that offer seating for six and is complimented by two 20" by 20" dinette tables that have designated storage beneath the forward berth. Boaters have the option of adding a pull-out sofa for additional sleeping arrangements. The lower living area boasts a natural cherry or wenge wood interior. Boaters can sit back and relax on longer cruises with a 32" Sony Bravia television. The inventive port side galley is furnished with standard wood flooring and includes an upright stainless steel 8.1 cubic foot refrigerator and freezer, microwave/convection oven, electric stove, double sink and plenty of storage for supplies. Keep cool or warm year around with four air conditioning and heating units, touting a total of 64,000 BTUs, strategically placed throughout the boat for optimal comfort. The 15.5 KW generator allows for worry-free use of all electrical components throughout the vessel without power management issues.
Elegant amenities are what give Cruisers Yachts style and legendary comfort and the 48 Cantius is no exception. The forward stateroom boasts a queen size island berth that is accessible from either the port or starboard side with storage below. Two built-in full-length cedar lined closets provide additional storage. Guests will appreciate the private entrances to the day head and split shower from the stateroom. The day head is also accessible from the lower salon.
With 6'6" of headroom, the full-beam master stateroom features a queen-sized island berth with a therapeutic foam mattress that is accessible from both the port and starboard sides. Two full-length cedar lined closets and a large built-in dresser on the starboard side offer ample storage, perfect for long cruises. Boaters have the option of adding a washer/dryer combo in the port closet. The master stateroom also offers a private head with separate shower stall. A large vanity sits outside the head compartment with solid-surface countertops, and storage above and below. Hull ports strategically placed above the vanity and built-in dresser capture natural light, illuminating the massive master stateroom.
