The latest Viking, the 2011 Viking 70 Enclosed Bridge, made its debut in the summer of 2010, joining the rest of the fleet with the finest pedigree in the yacht world. The new Viking 70 EB bears a striking resemblance to its siblings the Viking 82 and Viking 76, with an aggressively raked stem featuring more than eight feet of freeboard forward indicating plenty of headroom beneath the foredeck.
Three feet of aft freeboard in the spacious cockpit eases the releasing and tagging of billfish and tuna. The molded in feature lines intercept the curved smoothness of the flying bridge and deckhouse, in addition to the black metallic mask that wraps around the front of the deckhouse, all seamlessly transitioning into darkly tinted windows contributing to the Viking EB’s distinguished profile.
The Viking 70 EB features a 208 square-foot cockpit with an observation mezzanine that provides ample stowage, multiple freezers, an insulated refrigerated drink box in the salon entrance step, abundant drawers, and engine room access. The lower cockpit provides a sizeable fish box, a stowage compartment and an available live well beneath the molded non-slip sole. A transom fish box/live well also is available.
Another signature feature of the tournament proven center console helm on the flying bridge are the standard three adjustable Murray Products helm seats with teak ladder backs. Additional seating is available with port and starboard lounges each with rod stowage below and aft facing jump seats. Ahead of the command console is a third lounge, as well as a sink, freezer and drink box cooler.
As you enter the salon through the sliding electrically-operated fiberglass door, you are immediately greeted with an immense room that is both inviting and lavishly appointed with stylish designer furnishings, window treatments and custom valances. Overhead LED lighting sets the mood while natural light streams in from the salon sides and aft bulkhead windows, lending to a spacious and free environment. A day head is strategically located for the convenience of guests in the salon as well as the cockpit. Fishing rods and other gear stows handily and are readily accessible beneath the L-shape sofa to starboard. Relax or entertain with the sofa facing the entertainment center to port with a 50-inch flat screen television and Bose Lifestyle 48 system with custom surround sound. Manage your electrical system effortlessly with a Moritz OctoPlex touch screen monitor.
Forward, the extravagant galley offers the convenience of world class appliances, a walk-in pantry, multiple drawers and locker stowage. Adjacent to a four-person dinette is the galley island featuring a granite counter, under counter refrigeration and three bar stools.
As you continue below, you encounter the four-stateroom, four-head layout capable of accommodating several guests comfortably. This utilizes space for maximum comfort and privacy, including an exceptionally spacious master suite and private access to the crew quarters via the engine room and cockpit.
Additional attributes of the 70 Viking EB include chilled water air conditioning, a Delta-T engine room ventilation system and Viking’s proprietary VIPER (Viking Independent Programmable Electro-hydraulic Rudder) steering. The VIPER system eliminates the tie-bar for independent rudder operation to optimize response and reduce rudder drag at all throttle settings for remarkable maneuverability. The optional engine packages on the 70 Viking EB come with base MAN 1550 HP, Caterpillar 1925 HP or MTU 2400 HP/2600 HP.
Don’t miss out on the exciting opportunity to see the newest Viking EB model firsthand at the 2010 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October!
